Hey there!
I was recently asked about makeup organization. Happy to help!
I recently redid mine because I did not want it on the counter anymore. Since I only put it on in the morning, I did not need it on the counter 24/7 having it clutter up the counter (both visually and space-wise). I would many times 'let it go' because I was less than thrilled with it in the first place as you can clearly see in the before photo (putting it out there in all its glory for all to see! Ha!).
So I did a little rearranging. Well, I did some purging first. Makeup expires y'all! There are plenty of resources out there if you google makeup expiration.
Here's what you need to do:
1) gather ALL your makeup. From everywhere. Bathroom. Purse. Other purse. Vehicle.
2) discard anything expired, wrong color, not ever going to use/wear, funky odor/consistency.
3) put your likes with likes (all your eye shadows together, all your lipsticks together). If you'd like and if it is easier for you, subdivide further (all your eye liners together, all your eye shadows together).
4) find the appropriate container to store the remaining items (there are so many clear/acrylic make up organizers out there now! Or try an over-the-door organizer with different compartments).
5) find the right home - hidden (cabinet/closet) or visible (countertop). If you are going the visible route where they are more on 'display' or will be seen all the time, take that into consideration when you are looking for the right container (step 4) since it needs to be 'prettier' than say a rolled makeup bag that will go in the closet that just needs to be functional and looks are secondary (or not a factor).
Above: Here is an overview of my newly organized makeup caddy.
[I've repurposed two items here and I'll share that on another post. Added bonus: I'll also share what I put in my purse.]
So I'd love to hear about your makeup organization and what works for you. Feel free to comment below!
