Virtual Organizing

We now offer Virtual Organizing!

Hey there!

How exciting is that news?! We  are pleased to offer this service to our clients who do not live in the beautiful mountains of east Tennessee in the Knoxville area. This is such a lovely place to live - breathtaking mountains, serene woods, babbling creeks, wildlife. But, hey, not everyone can live here. We get that. So the next best thing? Virtual organizing.

So what on earth is virtual organizing you ask? When you live there and I live here and we want to declutter and organize your space together, we get to do it with our phones and computers. Ah, the luxury of modern technology. It's great when it works, right?

At the end of my post, I'll link over to the Virtual Organizing page on my website. In the meantime, here's the skinny:

1 - We connect via phone for a quick call. We get to determine if it's a good fit for both of us. We want this to be positive for everyone involved. Some people do well with a Professional Organizer physically with them side-by-side. Others can handle it own their own but need guidance/encouragement/direction. This latter group of people may do well virtually.

2 - A virtual assessment. Here's where we get to see what your needs are, what your space looks like, ask questions. We connect via our phones or iPad (FaceTime/Skype) and you provide a walking tour of your space.

3 - The plan. We determine what the plan is. Call it a Game Plan, Action Plan, To Do List.

4 - Select a service package & schedule. This is where you determine if you want to work on one space in your home or more than one. Based on that, we work out a mutually convenient schedule to reconnect on a regular/consistent basis. We connect virtually via FaceTime or Skype.

Then we start. No need to "preclean" or "preorganize" nor buy any baskets/bins/widgets beforehand.

So that's it in a nutshell. There are more details but I wanted to provide the highlights here.

The other thing you may be wondering is "does it work?" and I'm here to tell you that it can and it's up to you.

Here's some inspiration and the story behind it:

I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful client in Michigan who chose her home office. My client and her husband use their home office on a regular basis as both are busy entrepreneurs, have many extracurricular activities and various interests, work from home a majority of the week, host webinars, pay bills, and engage in social media. Each has their own desk area in addition to common items/spaces.

When asked if she was on a time frame, she shared that she wanted to surprise her husband when he returned from a business trip. At the end of the week. Clearly, she was motivated.

We got right to it!

This is where we started:

Though there was much to do, she had the drive and determination to complete her task. She needed my assistance because she didn't know where to begin. It was overwhelming and completely out of her scope. She knew what she wanted the end result to look like but she didn't know the steps to accomplish the goal. Working with her virtually, we provided a game plan that included what to do and when to do it. We organized together virtually for two hour blocks of time then she completed her "homework" between sessions. We provided encouragement and feedback to her in between.

At the end of our project, she was so proud to show me her "after" pictures. And I was so proud of her and all that she accomplished AND in such a short time frame at that!

She was able to have the sweetest surprise for her husband upon his return. I loved being part of that! Truthfully, I think I get just as excited over accomplishments as my clients do. Call me geeky but, hey, that's me.

And without further ado, here are her "after" pictures:

Ta Da! What do you think?

As you may have noticed, we did move a couple of pieces of furniture around for a more visually uncluttered look upon entering the office and to make the office more user friendly. As a bonus, it also provided a better backdrop for her webinars. We worked with what the client had though we did provide suggestions that they may utilize in the near future. It's totally ok to use what you already have.

Not only have my client and her husband enjoyed their newly decluttered and organized office, their pup does as well. He has his own chair!

And there is more! By decluttering and organizing the office, it motivated her to do the same to other areas of her home. That made me glad to hear. She now has more knowledge on how to do so.

As promised, here's the link over to the Virtual Organizing section of the website: VIRTUAL ORGANIZING

So there you have it! I'd love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions you may have.

Blessings,
