It’s December, People!
I cannot believe we are in the last month of 2018. I know everyone always asks, “Where did the time go?!” and I am no exception.
I’m sharing with you Stuff I’m Loving currently.
What I’m Listening To - Ringing in the Christmas season with festive songs! I love to hear all the classics starting the day after Thanksgiving. I have Christmas music cheerfully playing on my car radio. I have Christmas music loudly playing on the app on my iPhone. Love it! My favorite is Carol of the Bells from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I’l love to know what yours is! And when do you start listening to it?
What I’m Reading - Don’t Toss My Memories in the Trash by Vickie Dellaquila. People’s belongings are very important to them for a variety of reasons. And if you are senior that is or will be downsizing, you’ve had many years to accumulate a large amount of things/memories. It’s hard to let go and I get that. As a Professional Organizer, I am not attached to your things, either emotionally, sentimentally, or mentally. But, I am also keenly aware that not everything needs to be disposed of when downsizing. Though space available is the limiting factor on what can be kept, it’s up to the individual to decide what is a keeper and other items that are not (and who will get what). One big takeaway I got from the book is it is better to be in the driver’s seat and in control of the downsizing project rather than having it done for you because you can no longer physically do it.
What I’m DIYing - I’m in the planning stages of adding on more work surface to my home office. I have two more cabinets with drawers that I can use. Now it’s determining the best layout/configuration for my needs.
What I’m Organizing - My December calendar/schedule. December is definitely a month where you really need to be organized to keep your sanity. Parties galore! Work parties, parties with friends, neighborhood parties, church parties, and the list goes on. Let’s not forget all the family gatherings too. Both sides of the family. Plus gift shopping, grocery shopping, online shopping. And let’s not forget wrapping, cleaning, prepping. Schedule all of it so you don’t forget anything and you can keep track of it all in one place.
What I’m Excited About - Gathering with Friends and Family. ‘Tis the season! I don’t even need an excuse to get together but Christmas is a wonderful reason. One gathering I am really excited about is the Progressive Dinner we have with our friends. “The Gang” rotates houses for each course. What fun!
So let me know what you’re loving for December!
